The user accepts the following Terms and Conditions:

These terms and conditions bind the contract between: The user and Utatlan Language School.

Description of services

Utatlan Online offers a platform for students to learn about and book online Spanish classes, and allows teachers to offer their online tutoring services. It also makes several resources available for them, including user registration, online payment and student evaluation. All classes are taught by Utatlan Online.

Privacy of personal data

Utatlan Online will treat the personal data of users with absolute confidentiality and in accordance with current legislation. Utatlan Online will not sell the user´s email address to any third party.

The classes

One class is 55 minutes in length. If a student wishes to combine classes and do several in one session, they can choose if they prefer to take breaks each hour, or finish the final hour earlier.

The teachers

All teachers are experienced in teaching Spanish to foreigners.

After the user has purchased their required number of classes, Utatlan will assign a teacher to them. Every effort will be made to establish lesson times of best convenience to the student and the teacher. Most of our teachers combine their online teaching activity with in-person lessons at our School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. During their holiday period a substitution teacher will be provided.

At the time of booking classes, the user may request a specific teacher they have met and or worked with at our school. We will try our best to meet their wishes. However, assignment of a different teacher is not grounds for free cancellation of the classes purchased.

Trial lessons

Utatlan Online offers a free 30-minute trial lesson with no commitment of purchase.

The trial lesson is designed to give the user a real idea of how their online course will be. It cannot be guaranteed that the same teacher will teach the trial class and the ongoing classes, as it depends on the schedule requested by the student.

 

Needs Assessment

All new students complete a Needs Assessment so we can make the session as productive as possible. This does not include a level test as this is something that the teacher evaluates.

Certificates

Upon request the user will receive a certificate of achievement which states their name, level, the type of course received, the number of classes and a brief evaluation. The certificate will be stamped and signed by Utatlan Online.  This certificate will be sent to the user by email. The user can opt to receive a certificate by postal mail if they pay shipping costs.

Payment

To start the lessons prior payment is required 24 hours in advance via online payment by paypal, credit card payment, or transfer wise payment. A receipt will be sent by email.

Change of Class Package

If the user has purchased a package of a certain amount of classes and wishes to change it for another, they will be liable to pay the difference in the case of a higher value package. If the user changes from a more expensive option to a cheaper one, they are not entitled to a refund.

The packages are monthly or weekly intensive packages. If the user wishes to discontinue their classes and still has classes pending from their package (with more than 24 hours notice of a scheduled class), they will be entitled to a 50% refund of the remaining classes from the package purchased.

 Postponing classes/Changing class times

In the event of Utatlan Online being forced to cancel a class less than 24 hours in advance due to illness or a force majeure the class will be rescheduled if no substitute teacher can be found. The user will be notified via email if a cancelation or class reschedule was to occur.

 

In order to change the time or day of a class the user should contact Utatlan Online staff 24 hours in advance.

If the user needs to cancel a class less than 24 hours in advance, they should send their request with a reason to Utatlan Online who will consider whether the class can be made up or not.

All chances are to be made via email at online@spanishxela.com / utatlanxela@gmail.com, not directly through the teacher.

 

In case of the user canceling/suspending classes (with at least 24 hours notice), the weekly intensive packages need to be used within 1 month of booking.

In case of the user canceling/suspending classes (with at least 24 hours notice), the monthly packages need to be used within 2 months of booking,

In both cases we cannot 100% guarantee the same schedule and teacher after the suspension period as they may have been assigned a new student.

Class Delay or Technical Issues

If the user connects late but within a grace period of 20 minutes the session will not be cancelled but the time lost will not be made up. If the user is more than 20 minutes late the class will be cancelled and there is no right to refund. The class will be paid in full to your teacher.

If there are technical problems during the class, either on the side of the user or Utatlan Online. any lost time will be recovered in the next session. If the technical problems persist on the part of the user Utatlan Online reserves the right to temporarily suspend these classes until the technical problems have been solved.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

The user may print a physical copy of materials for their personal use and for learning purposes. Reproduction and/or distribution to third parties is not allowed. The user may download listening comprehension material for later reproduction. Reproduction and/or distribution to third parties is not allowed.
